Our Story
Linn and I met on the first official day of school at Cornell College. He was still doing the army thing with the rolled up sleeves and army boots. I was still doing the California thing with my blue mascara and mini skirt. Despite all that, Linn still swears that what really attracted him was that I was wearing “ugly shoes”. He’s a peculiar fellow, what can I say. For me it was the cool demeanor and confidence with which he portrayed himself.
The class was Intro to Theatre and was a joke. Over the next few weeks we got to know each other well, while writing notes and cracking jokes. There are three events that cinched our fate: one, we played a game in class that required us to stare into each others eyes for a long period of time (and oh, what amazing woodland eyes they were); two, my computer arrived broken and he came to save the day; and three, he took me out to eat the first real food I’d had since leaving California (the quickest way to a college student’s heart is through her stomach, dorm food gets old fast).
After that we were quickly inseparable. And after five years I can truly say I love him more each day than I did the last. He spoils me rotten and I tease him mercilessly. We truly are a great team. Together with our house full of animals we have made a home.
